This article is about the International Club and all of the things that have occurred in it.
As a member of the International Club, I’ve spent a lot of time there talking with others, listening to their backgrounds and experiences, and even trying new foods. However, this club has gone through many changes.
For example, when I visited the club for the first time, it seemed to be a bit unpopular. There weren’t a lot of people, and others were still getting used to the club. Eventually, more and more people joined. Then there were too many people, which made it a little difficult to fit everyone and everything. Because of this, there were also complications with establishing roles of others in the club (president, vice president, treasurer, etc.). In the end, however, they were able to move to a different room and fit everyone. I often go with my friends because of how fun it is and how much I can learn about other places and their heritage. Plus, it’s really fun trying new food.
International Club is an amazing opportunity to learn more about other cultures, make new friends, and even share your own culture with others. There are presentations that share tradition and history, which not only bring people together but also help them get to know one another better. International Club is very easy to join. All you have to do is show up and have fun. I’d say it’s very easy to make friends and share cultures in International Club, which is great if you’re looking to learn about a new language or meet new people.
Our sponsors, Dr. Cometa, Mr. Lookingbill, and Ms. Miller, have worked hard to make International Club what it is today. “I feel a connection from my school in China through this club,” “This club does a very good job with diversity.” says Mr. Lookingbill. In my opinion, as a regular member, International Club is fun and interesting, especially since I go with my friends and my sister, and I always get something out of the presentations, the food, and especially the people. “I think International Club is a very special place to celebrate diversity, which is what makes Wilde Lake great.” Ms. Miller says. With so many people contributing and sharing their cultures, the club’s approach to bringing others together is admirable, and I’ve really enjoyed watching it grow.
International Club also has an event called Culture Day, and the event will take place on March 18th. Culture Day is an amazing event to learn about other cultures and do fun challenges.
With all of that being said, International Club is fun, diverse, and a place where you are guaranteed to have a good time. “In the spring, students can come and make science fair boards about their favorite culture.” says Ms. Miller.
