Mission Statement
Since 1971, The Paw Print has been the voice of Wilde Lake High School. Every student staff member is faced with a unique set of topics, voices, and the changing world. The 2025-26 team is committed to producing ethical journalism for the Wilde Lake community.
Respect
We will show appreciation to our sources by letting them speak their truth without interruption or judgment. We will hear out each source without subjectivity. We will show gratitude for contributions made. We will prioritize a tone of passion, rather than hate. We will not intrude on people’s boundaries. We will support each other and acknowledge our individual strengths and contributions. We will agree to disagree.
Student-Led
“The Paw Print” staff is composed of student writers, reporters, and photographers and is led by student editors and overseen by an advisor. We believe that every student has their own perspectives and mindset that should be given a platform to amplify their voices.
“Do No Harm”
We will lead with good intentions. We will be mindful of our message and honor all perspectives. We will cautiously proceed to best serve our audience. We are open to feedback if our intentions do not match our impact.
Bias
We will write through an objective lens in order to allow students to form their own opinions. We will serve as the messengers in the Wilde Lake community with the goal of relaying information. We will remove ourselves if we believe that we are unable to remain impartial.
Diversity
We strive to include a wide variety of voices to ensure our interviewees and issues reflect the diversity and interests of our community. We believe in equal representation. We want to connect with different people to broaden the scope of our audience.
