While walking into the Wilde Lake kitchen for the first time, Mrs. Lebrun felt like a ray of sunshine. She was ecstatic to teach students about culinary academia and reach all her young chefs. She would love to rope in more of her scholars and inspire them to love the kitchen.
One of her best teacher moments was helping a student not only want to try but also learn how to use equipment or even put something in the oven. She states, “Seeing her students go from super nervous to being confident” really puts a smile on her face. She loves building relationships with her young chefs, having conversations, and getting to know them instead of giving consequences like taking their phones. When they are out, she wants to talk to them like the young adults they are.
As she moved from another school to here, she had a tradition where she would challenge her young chefs to cook or bake something and get teachers to volunteer as judges. That’s something she would love to bring to Wilde Lake High School. She wants her young chefs to understand that she is committed to their growth and will support them within the classroom and beyond it.
Before she was a teacher, Mrs. Lebrun used to be a cheerleading coach for five years. She’s also coached volleyball and softball. One reason she enjoys being a teacher at Wilde Lake is that she loves connecting with the students. Coming from a middle school to a high school, she was nervous, but when she walked into the school, she felt joy when all the young chefs welcomed her in. She was happy when her students told her to come to their games, and it brightens her day. She embraced the challenge from the moment she arrived at the Lake, and she wants her young chefs to know that she’s here to stay, and not just for a short time. One skill she teaches is life skills because everyone needs to learn how to cook, and building those skills will make it easier.
Some things Mrs. Lebrun loves to do outside of school include coaching, athletics, and traveling. She is interested in learning about different cultures. Mrs. Lebrun has been to Hawaii, Germany, England, and Ireland. Visiting every state is something that is on her bucket list.
As the school year begins, students and staff are excited to see what new flavors and lessons Mrs. Lebrun will bring to the kitchen. With her passion for cooking and creativity, it’s clear she’s ready to make her mark at Wilde Lake High School.
