With six minutes left in the 2A Regional Championship game on October 29, freshman Sophia Renzulli scored the game winning goal for the lady Wildecats, ensuring the Girls’ soccer team snagged the Regional Champs title.
The Girls’ soccer team dominated Regional Quarterfinals with an 8-0 win over Damascus. After a close 1-0 win against Southern in the Semifinals, where Sophia also scored the game winning goal, the Wildecats headed to Centennial for the Regional Championship.
“Going into the game, we knew we had previously lost to Centennial, but we also knew we had what it took to beat them,” said senior captain Lauren Sykes. “The win came from a lot of dedication and hard work.”
Their season ended at State Quarterfinals, where the team lost in shootouts after a double overtime against Queen Anne’s County.
